South East Europe
Would you like to be part of a program that includes studying for a course, attending workshops, meetings with high officials of the country including the President and Deputy Prime Minister, completing an internship at an NGO, company or government agency, visiting 4 countries in South East Europe (Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro) and enjoying a culturally and socially rich program?
South East Europe is a developing set of countries rich with culture and history. It hosts a variety of ethnic groups that provide ample opportunities to study their interactions in the current era and through history. From the Ottomans to the more recent Yugoslavian experiment, this region has been rife with change and conflict that will shape the future.
Even through all this change and turmoil, the people remain friendly, polite, and charitable. People that will offer you coffee, food, and good company at the drop of a hat. They say that the hardest part about hitchhiking across the Balkans is that you can never get anywhere fast as everyone is insisting on taking you to coffee, food, or raki (or rakija)! Across all ethnic groups, languages, and religions, charity reigns supreme!

Universum College's Summer Study Abroad Program offers courses directly related to the on going ethnic conflicts, international interventions, and humanitarian aid programs that are ever present in the region. On the business side, there are courses that discuss social entrepreneurship in these same developing countries and doing business in the region.
